Can you help the club fund two new nets?
Harpenden Cricket Club is installing two new outdoor nets. You can help.
Harpenden Cricket Club is installing two new outdoor nets to provide extra practice facilities for our growing junior section and the men’s and women’s sides.
These will be placed alongside the existing nets. See the attached document for a visual. The cost is an eye-popping £50,000 as we must keep the nets off the current playing area.
We have secured two grants and the club is funding 30% of the cost. But we need to raise at least £10,000 from members.
There are two ways in which you can help.

2. We are auctioning the following items:
- Auction A – One of 2 HCC playing shirts signed by the outstanding England test captain, Ben Stokes.
- Auction B – One of 2 HCC playing shirts signed by Jimmy Anderson, England’s greatest fast bowler. Each shirt will be mounted and framed, just like the Shane Warne shirt which hangs in the pavilion.
- Auction C – 50% discount on selling a home with Ashton’s before 31 March 2025 (up to a maximum of £5,000, VAT inclusive)
- Auction D – Lashings World signed cricket bat (donated by Claridge & Hall)
- Auction E – Afternoon tea for two at Luton Hoo (donated by Taylor Walton)
You may bid any amount you wish but we recommend no less than:
- Auction A or B - £750
- Auction C – £1,500
- Auction D - £100
- Auction E - £75
The auction process will finish on 1st December. Please send your bids as soon as possible to our Treasurer, David Washington (treasurer@harpendencc.co.uk), who you may contact at any time to confirm receipt and whether you are winning or not.
